Am I insane for considering these hypotheses?
The ascendant version of the LGBT movement is for them to become monks and nuns. In a way, the most committed people in the LGBT movement are the ones who get bottom surgery. They can’t go back. They’ve made themselves infertile. They’ve locked themselves into an asexual reproduction strategy. In short, they’ve effectively made a monastic vow. The sex they have post-surgery is like the guy in the Matrix who enjoys his steak, knowing it’s not real, but enjoying it anyways. This might explain why questioning their gender can be so triggering to them. I think monasteries could help (especially trans people) to find meaning in their lives and reduce the high suicide rate.
The Silicon Valley crowd are Loyalists who wish to reunite with the British Crown. Communication technology doesn't exist to bring the world together. It exists to make the British Empire possible again by transcending the tyranny of distance. Simultaneous BLM riots across much of the West show that we now exist as a coordinated unit while being illegible to the non-Western world. How can China make sense of the BLM riots? On one hand, the riots are a sign of decline. On the other, the self-destructive nature of it shows that the West is coordinated, unpredictable, and dangerous.
Vaccine mandates are good if we make them good because they encourage localism. The bad response is to print a fake vaccine card and effectively lie. The correct response is to not spend money at woke institutions.
What if moms are dressing their daughters in boy clothes to prevent them from being sexually abused by stepdad? This may be one of those things that women do based on their intuition and are confused when men respond to such moves with hostility. This doesn’t mean a woman is right in doing this, but it’s important to understand that maybe this outcome kicks in when other alternatives aren’t available.
The purpose of defunding police + COVID restrictions is to turn American cities into European ones. Looters steal from stores in SF and then drive off. Lefties: "we should make streets narrow and ban cars". Another example is lefties responding to COVID: "we get to push the restaurants outside just like in Europe!
Lefties make bad takes on inflation because they want to get you mad so they can then critique your tone. The proper response isn't to argue with them or mock them, but to quietly (and lovingly) ignore them? Maybe change the topic, or go up a level and discuss the topic at a more abstract level.
Many disagreements between the left and right are fake. Conservatives say "woman" and lefties say "birthing person". Arguing over the definition of "woman" is pointless. Words are not your god. Questioning definitions is also a fine and good thing to do because it gives you the opportunity to get at the underlying concept rather than focusing on the labels. More examples: misinformation vs. fake news. Build back better vs. make America great again. It’s important to agree on what words mean, but it’s also important to recognize that you can’t force someone else to use your words.
On Rittenhouse: I get why he defended himself, but if he lived up to Christian ideals, wouldn't being a martyr have been better? The left is wrong in holding him to this standard. The conservatives are wrong for not discussing the benefits of martyrdom. On crossing state lines: don't conservatives want state lines to mean something so that moving from California to Texas represents a real difference? Also, I get that he shot bad people, but on some level they were "forgiven" by society at large and holding past crimes over their heads shows that we didn't actually forgive them, or that their debt to society hasn't actually been repaid. Either way, there's a far more nuanced discussion to be had than either the left or right are having.
It feels hypocritical to depend on woke people for all our tech while simultaneously using this same tech to try to debate them. The conservatives feels wronged by censorship. The left feels that private corporations should be able to remove people they don't like. They don’t want to enable their ideological enemies by providing them social networks for them to use to spread conservative ideas.
