Lift the weight

Nick Land sprouts from a feminist and marxist tradition and lands (pun intended) on the right. But why should the right and left be at odds at all? They aren’t really. The dumbbells at the gym are not your enemy. You get stronger by lifting them.

Feminist liberation and lines of flight aren’t the enemy. They are a tool. They are mechanisms placed in our hands. They are the clay for us to work with.

A productive vision of the future cannot be some kind of fight between the masculine and the feminine, or even between socialism and capitalism. Look at your hands. They are living in a commune. Your heart pumps blood to each cell. They have what you might call UBI. The future is alive within you. Of course it’s not the whole story. Cancer is real. Unchecked growth is cancer. Degrowth is premature death, and so on…

The religious and the secular should also not be opposed. They’re distinct so that they can fit together, in the same way that men and women are made for one another. I’ll write more about this at some point.

Let’s look at feminism cynically. Women want freedom. They want total liberation. If the weight is too heavy, we shouldn’t get mad at the weight. Imagine a scenario like this. Imagine the worst horror. Your wife leaves you and now your kids are being raised by a pedophile. Divorce alone is enough to crush a lot of men. You could be upset at her, or you can be thankful for her ability to find evil for you to crush. Evil likes to hide, and the ability to gently extract it and to make it visible and apparent requires skill and patience. Men are afraid of other men. But men are willing to reveal far more about themselves to gentle women. The abuser sees that she’s weak and doesn’t stir a fuss, and so he gets complacent and sloppy. This is a gift.

Another scenario. Conservatives see the Castro district in San Francisco as a sign of evil. But what are we to do with evil? If homosexuality is wrong, it’s most wrong for the people engaging in it. The strongest argument a conservative can make against it is that a confused straight person might become influenced. That’s the strongest argument, and it’s a weak one.

You have wonder if conservatives are secretly in favor of homosexuality. Why? If you’re a lion on a hunt, you don’t roar. If gay people are the enemy, you don’t stomp around announcing to everyone that you’re against them. If you’re a woman and you want to make sure you’re marrying a straight man, the person easiest to believe is a straight man in the Castro district. If a man can remain straight in the gayest place on earth, then he is straight.

You can extend this logic to almost anything. How do you know if someone can’t control their sugar cravings? You give them a box of chocolates. What about controlling their sexual cravings? Again, you taunt them with it. How do you find the most sober person in the world? You go to a bar and find the person who’s the designated driver for the group, and find them in the corner not really sure why other people find partying to be this fun.

If you’re upset at women, don’t be. Women are the easiest people to control.
